Ask for restumping quotes in Gippsland

Send the town, the type of house, whether it is lived in, and what you have noticed. Photos of the floor and the subfloor help. Your enquiry is passed to a builder who works in your town.

To ask for a house restumping quote in Gippsland, say the town and what you have noticed. If you are not sure which shire you are in, the town is enough.

Or send the details

Fill this in and your enquiry is passed to a builder who works in your town. This site does not do the work or give quotes itself.

Request a quote

We will pass it to a local builder

Or call 03 4149 0218. A photo of the floor, any cracks or the subfloor, and the town help the builder come back with the right questions.

What to send

  • The town or locality. It decides which council and which builder.
  • The house type. Weatherboard, brick veneer, fibro or another type, and whether it is lived in, a holiday house or rental, or vacant.
  • What you have noticed. Sloping floors, sticking doors, cracks, gaps at the skirtings, squeaks. The signs guide lists what else can cause them.
  • Photos. The floor along a hallway, gaps at the skirtings and door frames, any cracks, and the subfloor if you can see it.
  • Access to the subfloor. Whether a person can get under the house, and where the entry is.
  • Who holds the keys. Especially for a holiday house or a rental.

What to ask the builder

  • Which registration class do you hold? Check it on the BPC register. The BPC says to use a registered building practitioner and to look for the photo ID card (BPC page on engaging a builder).
  • Is the quote itemised and in writing? The quote checklist lists the lines.
  • Who applies for the permit? The owner, or the owner's agent, appoints the building surveyor. The permit page explains.
  • Where is the insurance notice of cover? Ask for it where the contract is over the Home Warranty threshold, and do not pay a deposit until the builder has given the policy and certificate (Consumer Affairs Victoria on insurance). Deposit and contract rules change by 1 December 2026 (checked 6 November 2026); the registration page explains.

Other towns and where we cover

We also take enquiries from Yarram, Foster, Orbost and other Gippsland towns. Local facts for the main towns are on the pages for Sale and Maffra, Bairnsdale, Paynesville and Lakes Entrance, Leongatha, Korumburra and Mirboo North, Wonthaggi and Inverloch, and Cowes and Phillip Island.

What this page cannot do

Nobody on this site can say whether your house needs restumping, whether it needs a permit, or whether the builder who contacts you holds a registration. For permits, ask a registered building surveyor. For a builder's registration, search the BPC register. If a builder has not given you the insurance notice of cover where the contract is over the threshold, the BPC can be called on 1300 067 088. This page passes your details to a builder in your town and nothing more.

Questions

Common questions

What should I put in the Details box?

What you have noticed and where, for example a floor that slopes toward the back of the house or a door that sticks in wet weather. Add how to get under the house, whether anyone lives there, and who holds the keys. The more specific the note, the fewer questions the builder has to ask when they get in touch.

Can I send photos?

The form has no upload box, so describe what the photos show and have them ready. The most useful are the floor along a hallway, gaps at skirtings and door frames, any cracks, and the subfloor if you can see it. A builder who contacts you can then ask you to send them.

What if my town is not listed?

Write it in the Town or locality box anyway. The place pages cover the main towns in Wellington, East Gippsland, South Gippsland and Bass Coast, and enquiries also come from Yarram, Foster, Orbost and other Gippsland towns. The shire your town is in decides which council pages apply.

Will someone phone me?

The form asks for a phone number so a builder who works in your town can get in touch. This site cannot say when, or whether, a particular builder will call. You can ring the number on this page instead.

What if the house is a holiday house I am not at?

Say so in the form, and say who holds the keys or whether a neighbour or agent can open the house. Only the owner, or the owner's agent, may appoint a building surveyor, so tell the builder who that is. The Cowes and Phillip Island page covers organising work from a distance.

Why does the form ask whether the house is lived in?

Because it changes the conversation. A lived-in house raises questions about access and services, a holiday house or rental raises questions about keys and who signs, and a vacant house may be easier to enter. The form passes your answer to the builder, who decides what it means for the job.

I am buying a house that may need restumping. Can I still send the form?

Yes. Say in the Details box that you are buying, and describe what you or the inspector noticed. The signs guide covers buying a house that may need work. Who may appoint the building surveyor is a question for the owner or the owner's agent, so ask the builder how that works before settlement.

What should I have ready before I ring?

The town, the type of house, whether it is lived in, what you have noticed and roughly where. Have photos on your phone. If you already have a quote, have it to hand, and ask the person you speak to which registration class the builder holds so you can check it on the BPC register.
